Well, we gotta start paying down the debt somehow. Bring back Bill Clinton - his 2003 Budget Act CUT spending by $500 BILLION and included a modest tax increase (3%?) on the top bracket. Though raising taxes during an economic decline is not a good idea. At least in 93 the economy was on an upswing thanks to 41. Let’s face it, 43 has ruined the party with his explosion of spending and expansion of govt - shame on Tommy for advocating for the Prescription Drug boon doogle. 43 used both Tommy & Colin - maybe Tommy should endorse Obama?
If say, I don’t know, a Governor raised taxes on a large industry and used the windfall to write bigger checks to the people of that state already get, would that be socialist?
It’s not the taxation alone that makes Obama’s policies socialist (Marxist may be more accurate, actually), ATV. It’s the redistribution of wealth among individuals, using the IRS as some sort of ‘fairness’ social service agency that divies up privately-earned individual wealth, picking winners and losers based on the government’s assessment of ‘need.’
But nice of you to admit that Governor Palin, the most popular governor in America, has executive experience.
So, the Alaska Permanent Fund taxes revenues earned by private oil companies and pays out dividends to citizens under the principle that the oil is collectively owned, and it’s not socialism.
That makes sense. Somehow. I’m sure. I mean for a reason other than the letter after Ms. Palin’s name. Probably. Maybe.
As far as Palin being the most popular I’ll ask you the question Owen refuses to answer: if Doyle raised taxes on, uhhhhh, the dairy industry and wrote us all checks from the resulting revenues, would A> you say he wasn’t a socialist and B>wouldn’t his popularity probably rise?
The Alaska permanent fund was established by an amendment to the Alaska Constitution in 1976. Predates Palin’s tenure as Governor. Also predated Obama’s narcotics use and association with radical anarchists, I think. Not sure. But I do know all about Joe the Plumber’s life.
Ms. Palin raised the tax and increased the dividend payment, for the purpose of taking from the oil companies to help Alaskans pay high fuel bills - I believe literally the same windfall profits tax Obama and Democrats want at the federal level.
See, you’re trying to do the hack thing and pivot off the quesiton I actually asked and switch over to some issue on which you think you can score point, but this isn’t cable TV. We have more than a minute before you disappear off the air.
So again, from the top, two direct and simple questions that can’t really be answered with “BUT BILL AYERS!”:
1>If Doyle jacked up taxes on the dairy industry and wrote us all checks, would you call him a socialist?
2>If Doyle did that, wouldn’t you expect his popularity to rise?
They are both very simple yes/no questions. Thanks in advance.
The “No comment” response tells you all you need to know, ATV. And based on the $150K spending spree, I’m inclined to assume she’s an elite Marxist at heart.
What’s the problem with LIBTARDS and rhetoric?
Seriously.
Libtards latch on to a simple idea and hump it.
Here is an example.
If Alaska, Nebraska or even Montana take in revenues that belong to it’s people. Oil-Mineral rights-etc.
It isn’t SOCIALISM to give them equally to citizens.
But LIBTARDS being way way to stupid to understand the concept of Socialism latch on to the shiny object.
Taking MY MONEY, BRIANS MONEY or even PARIS HILTON’S money, in order to “share the wealth” with a some loser……………..IS…..socialism and very very close to Marxism.

Wow, like Owen you’re too much a coward to answer the question.

ATV, I wasn’t trying to change the subject.
I was mocking you.

OK. How that was mocking I’m sure only you know.
Now that you’ve had your fun, you can answer the questions.
Thanks.
