Thugish Behavior at Courthouse and on Internet

Does use of the word ‘thug’ have racial overtones?
James Rowen says absolutely, and in all cases.
At least one self-described “hard-boiled” righty blogger can’t stop playing the race card.
That’s the only conclusion you can come to when “Thug” - - a word that worked itself into the local vocabulary following particularly violent crimes, and especially during former Ald. Michael McGee’s legal troubles - - suddenly becomes Holloway’s middle name, too.
Apparently on at least one right-wing blog from the south Milwaukee suburbs - - and so far I’m not seeing anyone on the conservative side of the blogosphere take the race-baiter to task - - Holloway’s ‘crime’ was supporting a sales tax increase, in a public policy debate, at the Milwaukee County Board.
Which he chairs, as the Supervisors’ elected leader.
In other words, where he does his job.
Yes, readers outside greater Milwaukee and beyond, this is part of the heavily-racialized public debate that is endured here.
The blogger, “No Runny Eggs” [yes, that is the blog’s name], wrote this:
“Charlie Sykes has the text of a press release from Milwaukee County Board Chair Lee “Thug” Holloway purporting to claim that, even with a 1-percentage-point increase in the sales tax in Milwaukee County, it would still be “cheaper” to shop in Milwaukee County than in surrounding counties.”
That’s playing the race card?
Weak.
Perhaps there are other reasons Steve at No Runny Eggs calls Holloway a thug?
It has nothing to do with taxes, or race.
Rowen owes Eggleston an apology.

Rowen is right. “Thug” is the new N-Word. Used by right-wingers only in the context of African-Americans. And proudly so.
Show me one time when any right-winger referred to anyone other than a black guy as a “thug”. Doesn’t happen, certainly not with the same proud vehemence. Why does Belling think he is so bold, bragging “yeah, I called him a thug, now what are you going to do about it”? Because he knows the racist implications and he’s proud of it.
One thing I never understood is why right-wingers play these race-baiting games and then act offended when someone calls them on it. Be proud of your clever divisiveness. Stop hiding behind code words.
This have been going on since Nixon’s Southern strategy. Well, it worked for a while. As of November 2008, game over.

Look at Plaisted “projecting”. When Plaisted (a racist) hears the word thug, he thinks of the “n” word.
(Apparently we must not even discuss what we are supposed to be discussing, so we call the word “n”).
Yes Plaisted is the “l” word, and we all know that “L’s” are racists. I mean they pretend not to be, but they have no respect for blacks. They use blacks.
Plaisted, is it okay for me to use the word “black” or should I say “b’s”?
Plaisted, Rowen, and their “i word” (ilk) have had their r-card revoked.

I guess it’s not race baiting when people on the left do it.

FYI
THUG…..
noun
A criminal who treats others violently and roughly, especially for hire
One of a band of assassins formerly active in northern India who worshiped w:Kali, Kali and offered their victims to her
Translations:
Spanish: matón
Etymology: (Hind.) (term, thuggee) (or (term, tuggee), ààààà) < w:Marathi, Marathi (term, thag), (term, thak) “thief, swindler” < (Skr.) (term, sthaga) “cunning, fraudulent” < (term, sthagayati) or (term, sthagati) “to cover, conceal” < (PIE.) (s)teg- “cover”. Thuggee was an Indian network of secret fraternities who were engaged in murdering and robbing travellers and known for strangling their victims, operating from the 17th century (possibly as early as 13th century) to the 19th century. During w:British_Raj, British Imperial rule of India, many Indian words passed into common English, and in 1810 thug referred to members of these Indian gangs. The sense was adopted more generally as “ruffian, cutthroat” by 1839.

Plaisted’s post is such a presumptuous, over generalized, fact assuming rant, one cannot take it seriously.

James Rowen is no one. He is a hired hack. He’ll slime you, me and his own mother for a dollar.
He’s pretty much a slimer-for-hire.
Congratulations Jimbo!

Still waiting for the perpetually offended to take note of the 20 or so Indian businesses targeted for robbery and assault and call the accused perpetrators thugs.
Or are the accused some people who made, what, bad choices, but don’t bring out the thug-word on the righty blogs?
Brian? or this latest commenter, Gus…anyone?
It’s been a few days, and so far, all you’re doing is proving my point.
