Soglin: Conservatives worse than domestic terrorists

Paul Soglin, the lefty former gazillion-term Mayor of Madison is on a crusade to silence WMC. Today, he rants about differences of opinion within the Republican Party during the budget adjustment debate to proclaim:
[T]he extreme right wing of the Republican Party is so disconnected from reality that they make the Weather Underground of the late 1960’s look like mah jong playing grandmothers.
Leave it to Paul Soglin to use a Republican skirmish as a vehicle to say that conservatives within that party are actually worse than a notorious and despicable leftist domestic terrorist group.
The fact that he engages in such relativism goes a long way in explaining his crusade against the job providers in Wisconsin.

It’s a metaphor. The expression, “looks like” is meant to convey a mood to the hearer rather than to be a strictly constructed parallel.
Now had he said,”WMC is acting like the robber barons of days gone by, plundering what they can from those who work for them and all the while raping the Earth,” or, “The Wisconsin GOP acted like hamsters on meth last week, eating their own and soiling their nest while endlessly chittering and licking themselves,” that might have been seen as relativism.
But it wasn’t, of course. It was simply a call-back to a different time when one group was hell-bent on having their own way regardless of the consequnces to anyone else.

It was a lousy metaphor. Definitely in bad taste. I haven’t heard of Charlie Sykes leading a band of conservative webloggers on a bombing run on the state capitol. Talk about a lack of civility.

Actually it is a similie. A very poor one at that. At least he didn’t violate Godwin’s Law.
Any dim 6th grader could see no connection.

I think it goes a long way towards proving that inhalation of enough illegal substances seriously alters one’s mental capacity.

It was neither a similie nor a metaphor. It was a has been hippy speaking his mind. I’m certain that many of the leftists who infest blogs want to believe that Soglin is an elder stateman Progressive, but he’s a moonbat communist. He is a communist in theory, because his cushie lifestyle doesn’t meld with the society he seeks. Therein lies the flaw in commie-lite.
These gas bags, actually believe that the world they seek would be pleasant. Communism is and was awful. It caused the death of tens and tens of millions of innocent people. And those who were perpetual whiners like Soglin, would not be tolerated.
Soglin would be an Un-person if his dreams came true.
