After witnessing the collective whining/teeth gnashing/temper tantrum thrown by liberal Democrats last week, a common theme is discovered.

“Something is wrong, but it certainly isn’t Butler’s liberal activist ideology.”

In fact the liberal blogosphere, such as it is, appears to agree that Wisconsin voters fall into one of these categories.

1. The idiots, who were either duped by election tricks or simply couldn’t see that Butler was the superior choice.

2. The racists, who voted for Gableman only because Butler is an African American.

3. The unworthy, who henceforth do not deserve a chance to vote in judicial elections.

Now, even the left can figure out (John Nichols notwithstanding, see video below) that you can only call people stupid and racist so many times before they get offended and respond in kind at the ballot box.

So the drumbeat for merit selection will continue.

Because you don’t deserve/aren’t qualified/can’t handle the responsibility to vote in something as important as a Wisconsin judicial race.

I posted somewhere else that one could play a drinking game with the WisOpinion video. Every time your hear “racist campaign” you have to drink.

You’ll be drunk in no time.

  3. Bill Says:

Anyone who thinks you can remove politics from the equation by having state supreme court justices appointed rather than elected is naive.

The game would just be played in a different park. It would be no more civil and no less political. If you think special interests aren’t going to find their way into a nominating and confirmation process you’re also sniffing glue.

All this “merit” garbage would do would be to remove the direct voice of the people.

This is so surprising and shocking! Liberals-gone-wild, chasing their own tails.
    1) You must vote for the black candidate or you are a racist.
    2) We the “unwashed masses” are not qualified to vote for our justices, unless we elect liberals. Then we are qualified.
    3) Money is bad in elections, unless it comes from Unions, Indian tribes or trial lawyers then it is good.
    4) Judge Gabelman isn’t qualified to be a State Supreme Court Justice, but Barack Hussein Obama IS QUALIFIED to be President and PICK U.S.Supreme Court Justices for life.
    5) Doesn’t it seem like the LIBS-GONE-WILD are just like SCHOOL REFENDUMS? When they lose, the can’t accept that they lost.

  5. Ron Says:

And do not forget those redneck NRA members- about 200 thousand strong in Wisconsin. NRA endorsed Gableman and sent postcards to all members to remind them to vote- and most of those members vote! We can safely assume more than half of those members voted.

  6. J. Gravelle Says:

Hey, Butler at least pretended to be conservative.

What more do you want in a judge?

At least our gub’ner saw through the facade…

Congratulations, Fraley, you helped elect a complete moron. Are you proud of that?

You know he’s a world-class boob. Will you be honest and admit it?
