Vote Fraud in Wisconsin
February 26th, 2008
In
Previously-registered voters do not need to show a photo id when casting their ballots.
Here (fraleycopyvotefraudreport.pdf) is the report by the Milwaukee Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit regarding the widespread vote fraud in the City of
I am just digesting this report and will have much more on this later today but here are a few key findings:
“It should be noted here that it was the intention of the Task Force to seek charges on many more of the felons that voted, however, both prosecution units (my note: US Attorney’s office and Milwaukee County DA) found that the poor quality of the records maintained by the Milwaukee Election Commission provided enough reasonable doubt to make it nearly impossible to obtain convictions, and further federal indictments or state charges were not pursued.” (pg 26).
“It was during this review that the investigators discovered that individuals that had come to Wisconsin as campaign staffers for one of the two major parties or a national 527 group had cast Absentee ballots in this election. The investigators then found additional persons from these groups that had cast ballots as On-Site Registrants or as registered voters. The persons cited in this subsection, in addition to several others where investigation is not sufficient to include them, were in no way connected to the City of
Milwaukee other then (sic) their work for the major political party or the 527. (p 49)
“The investigators discovered that within the official records of the Election Commission individuals are recorded as having cast multiple ballots during the 2004 General Election. The possibility of “double votes” existed at the local level; between adjacent communities; and with a bordering state…
“Due to On-Site Registration, there is no real time filter employed to determine if an individual has cast more than one ballot in any particular election. The violation, if discovered, would only occur after the ballots have been cast. The damage would have already been done.
“During this Election the investigators discovered that a person in the City ofMilwaukee could register and vote under variations of their given name.”(pg 57)
So, they found a lot of fraud, but because the records were so screwed up, prosecutions in most of these cases were not possible.
Looking ahead to this November,
And, given the possible swing state nature of Badgerland this fall, voters across the country have a right to demand that all and only eligible votes in Wisconsin will be counted, once, this fall.
Fix

Campaign workers who live in Wisconsin the minimum days to be eligible to vote can legally register and cast a ballot. As long as they are not also voting in another state, how is this a problem?

At least we now know what the Milwaukee Police Department has been working on instead of the murder problem. This is an embarrassment that three years later and how many hours and resources devoted they come up with clerical errors? How about the Milwaukee police stop the armed robbery and random killings that are going on? Sorry, they say they need more resources. At least now we know what they have been up to.

Comrade Bob Jones, who would you suggest investigate liberal crime? You?.
Jones, don’t you have some tires to slash on Republican vehicles?

I wrote this literally a week or two before the report came out, and even after it did, the article still holds.

The problems of elections in Wisconsin extend far beyond partisan trickery. The MPD is both irresponsible and intentionally disingenuous to throw a pull quote of “The reports of more ballots cast than voters recorded were found to be true” at the top of the 67-page report. If you read through the entire thing, you will find HUNDREDS of clerical errors committed by those in charge of electoral administration. This includes entire STACKS of absentee ballots being thrown out, hundreds of voter registrations being entered TWICE, and others not entered at all.
Do you think this might somehow account in part for the gap in votes recorded and votes cast?
GOP-backers also love to claim that the lack of voter ID requirements and/or the ineptitude of poll workers are a hindrance to prosecution, as if fraudulent voting was so widespread and certain that, in the absence of those obstacles, we’d have an electoral crime wave every general election. In 2005 the Republican Party of Wisconsin took a formal complaint of the 9 most likely double-voters straight to the DOJ, and came back empty-handed - all attributable to clerical errors. This is the Bush Administration’s DOJ, mind you. You can keep exaggerating the extent of voter fraud all you want, but it’s simply not happening on a scale that would justify the imposition of new electoral requirements that shrink the overall size of the electorate rather than target the most likely criminals. Despite the MJS having reported 361 felon votes (the report found the real figure later to be 220), those votes account for .002% of ALL WISCONSIN VOTERS IN THAT ELECTION.
It goes on and on. The felon votes? Their address are supplied by the DOC - Wisconsin’s Voter Reg database won’t even pick them up. The registration cards didn’t even include the state-mandated language on them declaring felons ineligible to vote. One person in 2004 even voted WITH THEIR STATE OFFENDER CARD as corroborating identification.
If the Republican Party of Wisconsin really cared about electoral integrity, they would overhaul the entire electoral administration system, not put the burden on the voters. But it sure makes the government look stupid when we contract out a software company to put together our HAVA-mandated voter reg database, blow $27 million on it, update it once every 4 years, and then mess up royally every general election because of our abysmal records-keeping.

They bus people up from Chicago to vote in Milwaukee. Tell me that my vote is worth something! The Left loves to talk about freedom of speech, that is if you are saying something they like or you are voting blindly Democratic for a pack of smokes! Democracy is a myth in the US.
